Explanation
Youth culture refers to the ways in which young people create distinct social worlds with their own styles, music, language, values, and norms. It emerges partly in opposition to adult expectations and mainstream society, offering a space for identity formation, resistance, and belonging. Sociologists study youth culture to understand processes of socialization, deviance, generational change, and cultural innovation. Examples include Punk, Hip-Hop, Mods, and contemporary online communities.
