Explanation
LGBTQ refers to a diverse set of sexual and gender identities often marginalized by heteronormative societies. In criminology and sociology, LGBTQ communities are studied in relation to discrimination, hate crimes, legal inequalities, and subcultural resistance. There is also growing focus on the intersectionality of LGBTQ identities with race, class, and other axes of inequality.
